Baseball Recap: Waltham Triumphs

Waltham lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Lincoln-Sudbury, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Thursday's game. The Hawks' pitcher stepped up to hand the Warriors an 11-0 shutout on Thursday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Hawks considering their two-run performance the matchup before.

Ted Letendre tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run while striking out seven over five innings pitched. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Waltham is 4-2 when he allows at most one walk, but 4-5 otherwise.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Tim O'Toole, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one triple, and one run. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Cam Egirous was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and three runs.

Waltham now has a winning record of 8-7. As for Lincoln-Sudbury, their loss dropped their record down to 10-10.

Waltham will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Warriors: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
