Basketball Preview: Hebbronville Longhorns vs. San Diego Vaqueros

Hebbronville is 2-8 against the Vaqueros since January of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Hebbronville Longhorns will head out on the road to square off against the San Diego Vaqueros at 7:45 p.m. Hebbronville is no doubt hoping to put an end to a nine-game streak of away losses.

Last Tuesday, Hebbronville suffered a tough 66-45 defeat at the hands of the Lions. While losing is never fun, Hebbronville can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1575th, while the Lions are ranked 785th).

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Kevin Gonzalez, who scored six points along with nine rebounds and two steals. Oscar Carrillo was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with five steals.

Meanwhile, San Diego unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Friday. They took a 66-53 hit to the loss column at the hands of Santa Gertrudis Academy.

Like Hebbronville, San Diego lost despite seeing results from several players. Estevan R barrientes led the charge by scoring 18 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Austen Reynolds, who scored 14 points.

Hebbronville has not been sharp recently as the team's lost 11 of their last 12 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-20 record this season. As for San Diego, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 24-7.

Hebbronville took a serious blow against the Vaqueros in their previous meeting back in January, falling 57-19. Can Hebbronville avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
