Volleyball Recap: Maddy Cruttenden's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Wellsboro over Williamsport + How To Watch

Wellsboro lost against Williamsport back in September of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Hornets fell just short of the Millionaires by a score of 3-2.

Wellsboro wouldn't go down easily and took Williamsport into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking eight-point loss. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-14, 16-25, 22-25, 25-18, 15-7.

Wellsboro's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Maddy Cruttenden, who had 32 digs and three aces. Cruttenden has been hot recently, having posted ten or more digs the last four times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Taylor Main, who had 12 digs and three aces.

Wellsboro has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-3 record this season. As for Williamsport, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 5-1.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Wellsboro will face off against Troy at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Williamsport, they will look to defend their home court on Monday against State College at 5:30 p.m.
