Basketball Recap: Jacob Wilson's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Bedford over Bellefonte

Bedford fought the good fight in their overtime contest against Bellefonte on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell to the Bellefonte Raiders 71-65. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Wednesday (61), the Bisons still had to take the loss.

Several Bisons players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jacob Wilson, who went 9 for 17 en route to 21 points in addition to six assists and six rebounds. With that strong performance, Wilson is now averaging an impressive 15.4 points per game. Another player making a difference was Quincy Swaim, who almost dropped a double-double on 11 points and nine assists.

Wilson wasn't the only one working in the assists department: Bedford was working as a unit and finished the game with 22 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Bedford's loss was their sixth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 3-14. As for Bellefonte, their win ended a nine-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 3-13.

Bedford will venture away from home to take on Greater Johnstown at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Greater Johnstown knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past nine matches -- so hopefully Bedford likes a good challenge. As for Bellefonte, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 55-22 victory against Philipsburg-Osceola on the 3rd.
