Heritage Academy Gateway hasn't had much luck against Heritage Academy recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. Heritage Academy Gateway will head out on the road to take on Heritage Academy at 4:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
While Heroes fans will have to keep waiting for their team to come home, they shouldn't be too worried about the road trip considering the result of Wednesday's season opener. They put the hurt on Imagine Prep Coolidge with a sharp 23-7 win on Wednesday.
Kane Odell and Brock Akin did most of the damage at the plate: Odell scored four runs and stole Five bases. while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances, while Akin went 1-for-4 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three RBI. Benny Treuhaft was another key player, scoring three runs while going 1-for-3.
Meanwhile, Heritage Academy got themselves on the board against Mission Heights Prep on Tuesday, but Mission Heights Prep never followed suit. They were the clear victor by a 10-0 margin over the Phantoms. The victory continues a trend for the Heroes in their matchups with the Phantoms: they've now won nine in a row.
Cristian Morgan made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out six over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April of 2024. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with three RBI and one triple.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Elliott Cahall, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in hits. Another player making a difference was Andrew Dahl, who scored three runs while going 3-for-3.
Heritage Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .444. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Mission Heights Prep only posted a batting average of .167.
Heritage Academy Gateway might still be hurting after the 9-1 loss they got from Heritage Academy in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Can Heritage Academy Gateway avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
