Recap: Southside Cardinals vs. Victoria West Warriors
It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact the Southside Cardinals can now relate to. They were dealt a 59-22 defeat at the hands of Victoria West on Friday. Southside's loss signaled the end of their nine-game winning streak.
Victoria West was led to victory by Camden Repper and Kamauri Montgomery. Repper rushed for 155 yards and a touchdown while picking up 8.6 yards per carry, while Montgomery rushed for 238 yards and five touchdowns while picking up 8.2 yards per carry. Montgomery has been hot recently, having posted 100 or more rushing yards the last ten times he's played.
Southside's defeat dropped their record down to 9-2. As for Victoria West, their victory bumped their record up to 5-6.
Southside does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Victoria West is on the road again on Friday and play against Harlingen South. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Texas (Harlingen South is ranked 618th, while Victoria West is ranked 593rd).
