Baseball Recap: Bishop McLaughlin Catholic Takes a Loss

After flying high against Citrus last Friday, Bishop McLaughlin Catholic came back down to earth. Bishop McLaughlin Catholic fell just short of the Central Bears by a score of 5-4 on Monday. The Hurricanes were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bears apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in March of 2023.

Bishop McLaughlin Catholic got a good showing from Elyvis Quezada, who tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. The dominant performance also gave Quezada a new career-high in strikeouts (four).

At the plate, Bishop McLaughlin Catholic saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jadin Soto, who went 1-for-4 with one home run. That home run marked the first that Soto launched this season.

Bishop McLaughlin Catholic's defeat dropped their record down to 8-6. As for Central, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season.

Coincidentally, Bishop McLaughlin Catholic and Central will both be playing Land O' Lakes the next time they take the field. Central will host Land O' Lakes at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while Bishop McLaughlin Catholic will play them later in the day, at 7:00 p.m.
