Softball Game Preview: Ishpeming Hematites vs. Hancock Bulldogs

The Ishpeming Hematites will head out to challenge the Hancock Bulldogs at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Ishpeming has given up an average of 10.4 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Ishpeming couldn't beat Westwood on Wednesday even though they stacked five runs on them in the third inning. The Hematites lost 19-8 to the Patriots.

Jenessa Eagle made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one home run, two RBI, and one double. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season. Stella Nerlfi was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two runs and two RBI.

Meanwhile, Hancock didn't have quite enough to beat Houghton on Tuesday and fell 7-6. The Bulldogs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Ishpeming's loss dropped their record down to 2-5. As for Hancock, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-7.

Ishpeming couldn't quite get it done against Hancock when the teams last played back in June of 2024 as they fell 9-6. Can the Hematites avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
