Soccer Game Preview: La Quinta vs. Shadow Hills

The La Quinta Blackhawks will venture away from home to face off against the Shadow Hills Knights at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams are strolling into their matches after big wins in their previous games.

La Quinta's defense heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. Everything went their way against Xavier Prep as La Quinta made off with an 8-0 win. Given the Blackhawks' advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 401st, while the Saints are ranked 1191st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Shadow Hills came tearing into Monday's contest with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 3 goals) and they left with even more momentum. They were the clear victor by a 3-0 margin over the Rattlers. The result was nothing new for the Knights, who have now won seven matches by three goals or more so far this season.

The victory was the third in a row for La Quinta, bringing their record for this year to 12-7-2. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only given up one goal over those three games. As for Shadow Hills, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 14-3-1 record this season.

La Quinta came up short against Shadow Hills in their previous meeting two weeks ago, falling 3-1. Can La Quinta avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
