McConnellsburg has gone a perfect 4-0 against Rockwood recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Spartans will be playing in front of their home fans against the Rockets at 4:30 p.m. McConnellsburg is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.3 runs per game this season.
McConnellsburg's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They blew past Shanksville Stonycreek 18-0. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Spartans considering their one-run performance the game before.

Reese Alexander was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, eight RBI, and three runs. Those eight RBI gave him a new career-high. Hoyt Glenn was another key player, going 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.
McConnellsburg was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .455. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Rockwood waltzed into their contest on Thursday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They came out on top against Fannett Metal by a score of 7-3. Surprisingly, this marked the Rockets' fourth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.
Davis Bruening and Carson Brown made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Bruening struck out six batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. Meanwhile, Brown tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Bruening has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. At the plate, Bruening went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs, while Brown got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three stolen bases and four runs. Brown is becoming a predictor of Rockwood's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 2-3 when he doesn't).
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Max Trimpey, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, one run, and one double. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Conner Handwerk, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI.
McConnellsburg has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Rockwood, their victory bumped their record up to 7-3.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. McConnellsburg has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.5 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Rockwood struggles in that department as they've been averaging 8.9 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
McConnellsburg took their win against Rockwood in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 11-0 score. Do the Spartans have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Rockets turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
