Softball Recap: Cary-Grove Wins Going Away Against Dundee-Crown

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Cary-Grove ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They put the hurt on the Dundee-Crown Chargers with a sharp 9-2 victory. This was payback for the Trojans, who suffered an 8-4 loss the last time these two teams met.

Paityn Ahlquist made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out nine batters over eight innings while giving up just two earned runs off seven hits. Ahlquist was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-5 with one triple and one run.

In other batting news, Grace Kaiser was incredible, going 3-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Olivia Osadzinski was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two RBI and one run.

Cary-Grove kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Dundee-Crown only managed seven hits.

The win made it two in a row for Cary-Grove and bumps their season record up to 5-9. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 0-10 Crystal Lake South and 6-12 Dundee-Crown. As for Dundee-Crown, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost ten of their last 12 matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-12 record this season.

Cary-Grove will square off against Central at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Dundee-Crown, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Crystal Lake South at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Chargers are facing the Gators at the right time seeing as the Gators are stuck on an 11-game losing streak.
