Baseball Recap: Big Sky Victorious

While Big Sky's victory against Butte wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Eagles narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Bulldogs 7-5. The victory continues a trend for the Eagles in their matchups with the Bulldogs: they've now won three in a row.

Ethan Paugh was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out six batters over 6.2 innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off nine hits (and only one walk). Those six strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one home run.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Colter Nicolarsen, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Rowan Miculka was another key player, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Big Sky's win bumped their record up to 11-4-1. As for Butte, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-9.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Big Sky will square off against East Helena at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Butte, they will face off against Russell at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
