Softball Recap: Yuma Catholic Makes It Six in a Row on the Road

Yuma Catholic had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 12.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They were the clear victors by an 18-2 margin over the Kingman Bulldogs. That's more bragging rights for the Shamrocks, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Cherish Trujillo spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on two hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Faith Donley was a standout: she scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. Mikaela Gonzales was another key player, scoring two runs while going 3-for-3.

Donley wasn't the only one making solid contact: Yuma Catholic kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in April of 2024.

Yuma Catholic pushed their record up to 17-4 with the victory, which was their sixth straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.8 runs on average over those games. As for Kingman, they now have a losing record of 11-12.

Looking ahead, Yuma Catholic will head out to face off against Parker at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday. The Broncs have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 13.88 runs per game on average), something the Shamrocks will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Kingman, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next match, a 5-3 defeat against Chino Valley on the 14th.
