Basketball Recap: Central Picks Up Eighth Straight Win at Home

It's playoff time, and Central had no trouble coming through when it counted. They took down the Treasure Coast Titans 60-44 on Wednesday. Given the Cobras' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 48th, while the Titans are ranked 204th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Central was led to victory by Christopher Maxon and Joseph Gayle. Maxon posted 13 points in addition to five assists and five boards, while Gayle went 8 of 15 on his way to 23 points. That makes it three consecutive games in which Gayle has scored at least a third of Central's points. Christian Maxon was another key player, putting up 11 points.

Central pushed their record up to 18-8 with the victory, which was their eighth straight at home. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 74.5 points per game. As for Treasure Coast, the loss snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 14-13 record.

Central will take on Centennial at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Central knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past 19 matches -- so hopefully Centennial likes a good challenge. Treasure Coast does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
