Football Game Preview: Savannah Country Day Hornets vs. Swainsboro Tigers + Official Tickets

The Savannah Country Day Hornets will take on the Swainsboro Tigers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Savannah Country Day is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 34 points back in September, they were much more limited against Savannah Christian on Friday. They had to suffer through a 42-7 loss at the hands of the Raiders. The Hornets have struggled against the Raiders recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.

Savannah Country Day's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of James Pannell, who picked up 86 receiving yards and one score, and Devin Trawick, who rushed for 81 yards on only nine carries.

Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 47-20, which was the final score in Swainsboro's tilt against Toombs County on Friday. The loss was the Tigers' first of the season.

Savannah Country Day will have to contain Marco Danford as he made an impact in Swainsboro's last game. He rushed for 44 yards and one TD, and also caught one touchdown.

Having lost for the first time this season, Swainsboro fell to 6-1. As for Savannah Country Day, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-4.

Friday's contest might be decided on the ground. Savannah Country Day has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 167.7 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Swainsboro struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 204 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's matchup turns into a tough fight on the ground.
