Saginaw Valley - North recap September 10, 2013
Arthur Hill moved up to 297 from 361 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in Saginaw Valley - North. The Lumberjacks were able to make move up by defeating Flint Southwestern Academy 29-14.
Dow was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from fourth to second in the league. Earlier in the week, the Chargers triumphed over Flushing 42-15.
Alex Mudd was the best receiver in the league this week as Bay City Western defeated Northwestern.
Simon Klida was the best running back in Saginaw Valley - North this week. In 23 carries, he ran for 158 yards as the Warriors topped the Wildcats. Teammate Mudd added to the ground attack by rushing for 90 yards.
Robert Backus put up the best numbers in passing as Mt. Pleasant beat Powers Catholic. He had a total of 5 completions for 50 yards. Backus' favorite target this week was Evan Huber, who caught 4 passes for 42 yards.
Klida was a passing and rushing force as Bay City Western beat Northwestern.
An important game coming up in the league this week will be when Saginaw takes on Dow. As it stands, the Trojans are in fourth, while Kurt Faust's team is in second.
Central fell to Loyola 44-7 last week, the largest margin of any game.
