Baseball Game Preview: San Ysidro Cougars vs. Valhalla Norsemen

The San Ysidro Cougars will head out on the road to challenge the Valhalla Norsemen at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. San Ysidro is coming into the contest on a five-game losing streak.

Fans were treated to a battle of the Cougars on Monday. San Ysidro fell 4-1 to Steele Canyon.

Marco Hernandez was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out seven batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off five hits (and only one walk). He also tossed a walk, which is notable because San Ysidro is 2-1 when he allows at most two walks, but 3-4 otherwise.

At the plate, San Ysidro saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Antonio Soto, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, Valhalla unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Monday. They fell just short of Madison by a score of 2-1. The match marked the Norsemen's lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Valhalla's defeat dropped their record down to 3-2. As for San Ysidro, the loss was their first at home , dropping their record down to 5-5.

San Ysidro came up short against Valhalla in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, falling 7-3. Can San Ysidro avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
