Baseball Recap: Florence Victorious

Florence lost to Combs back in April of 2018, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Thursday. The Gophers came out on top against the Coyotes by a score of 8-3. With that win, the Gophers brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.

Kris Aguirre was a major factor no matter where he played. He tossed 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with two RBI and one double. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Tanner Gammons was incredible, going 1-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. Logan Stenson was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.

Florence hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Combs struck out ten times.

Florence's record is now 11-6. As for Combs, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-11-1.

Florence wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 5-0 victory against Desert Christian on the 11th. As for Combs, they have also already played their next matchup, a 6-5 win against Chinle on the 11th.
