Basketball Recap: Bruce Takes a Loss

Bruce extended their losing streak to three on Saturday, dropping them down to 2-8. 2026 welcomed they with a 64-43 loss courtesy of the Houlka Wildcats. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Wildcats this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 73-55 back in November of 2025.

As for Houlka, the win was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record up to 14-2. They have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight contests by 21 points or more this season.

Elijah Foster continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double with 16 points and ten boards. He has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Tyler Winter, who almost dropped a double-double with nine points and 17 rebounds.

Looking ahead, Bruce will venture away from home to face off against Eupora at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. The Trojans will be up against the Eagles' rather soft defense (which has allowed 54.06 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Houlka, they will host Vardaman at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Wildcats will be up against the Rams' rather soft defense (which has allowed 64.33 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
