Basketball Recap: Pine Crest Takes a Loss

The home team had come away the winner the last five times Pine Crest and Saint Andrew had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Panthers fell 85-80 to the Scots on Tuesday. The Panthers haven't had much luck with the Scots recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.

Xander Gerard produced another solid performance almost dropping a double-double with 27 points and nine boards for Saint Andrew's. The contest was Gerard's third in a row with at least 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Brendan Gerard, who went 5-for-9 to rack up 20 points along with seven assists and five rebounds.

Pine Crest's loss dropped their record down to 3-2. As for Saint Andrew's, the victory (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 9-1.

Looking ahead, Pine Crest won't have much time to rest: their next game is against NSU University at 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Panthers will need to watch out since the Sharks have now posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season. As for Saint Andrew's, they will be playing at home against St. John Paul II Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
