League recap: Wagner powers Port Huron with hot hitting week

Evan Wagner was on fire this week, as he led Macomb Area - Blue with a .556 average, one home run and seven RBIs. Meanwhile, Port Huron put together a 3-2 week.

Wagner was the best pitcher in the league this week. He won two games and struck out 10 batters.

Utica boasted the best pitching over the past week, holding opponents to the league's fewest hits and issuing the fewest walks. The Chieftains' pitchers have been charged with only 128 hits and have struck out 111 batters. Austin Ferguson is tops on the staff with 31 Ks.

The Big Reds scored a league-best 34 runs this week, adding to their league-leading 125 runs on the season. Wagner is the team leader in runs scored with 25, while Kyle Moran has driven in a team-best 20 runs with his bat.

The Big Reds' Wagner finished his week with 10 hits, tops in the league. His 29 hits for the year are first in the league, and he boasts a .341 batting average.
