Baseball Recap: Coronado Comes Up Short

It was a proper cat-fight when Coronado challenged Las Vegas on Wednesday. The Cougars fell just short of the Wildcats by a score of 3-2. The Cougars have struggled against the Wildcats recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meeting.

Dillon Victoravich was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out nine batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. That's the fewest earned runs he has allowed since back in March.

On the hitting side, Coronado saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Matthew Moreno Jackson, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2.

Coronado's loss dropped their record down to 9-17. As for Las Vegas, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-7 record this season.
