Basketball Game Preview: Riviera Beach Preparatory and Achievement Academy Gladiators vs. Pahokee Blue Devils

The Riviera Beach Preparatory and Achievement Academy Gladiators will venture away from home to face off against the Pahokee Blue Devils at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Riviera Beach Preparatory and Achievement Academy has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games.

Having struggled with four losses in a row, Riviera Beach Preparatory and Achievement Academy turned things around against Synergy Magnet K12 on Friday. They managed a 53-48 victory over the Saints.

Riviera Beach Preparatory and Achievement Academy found their leader in sophomore Hershell Reynolds, who dropped a double-double on 27 points and ten boards. That makes it eight consecutive games in which Reynolds has scored at least a third of Riviera Beach Preparatory and Achievement Academy's points. Christian Booker was another key player, dropping a double-double on ten assists and 12 steals.

Riviera Beach Preparatory and Achievement Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 21 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 12 offensive boards in 18 consecutive matchups dating back to last season.

Meanwhile, Pahokee was not able to break out of their rough patch back in December of 2024 as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They came up short against Okeechobee, falling 54-34. While losing is never fun, the Blue Devils can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 594th, while the Brahmans are ranked 191st).

Ja'Tahj Dowdell was Pahokee's leading scorer, having posted five points. Javian Jones held things down on the boards with 14 rebounds.

Pahokee's loss dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Riviera Beach Preparatory and Achievement Academy, their win bumped their record up to 2-6.
