Basketball Recap: Millennium Falcons vs. River Islands Riptide
Millennium was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their 14th straight loss. They had to suffer through a 78-47 loss at the hands of the River Islands Riptide. The Falcons were down 65-38 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.
Defeat or not, Millennium got some senior leadership from Andre Saldate and Kala Bragg. Saldate went 6 for 13 on his way to 16 points and six boards, while Bragg posted eight points and three steals. Shawn Saldate also deserves some recognition as he posted his first block of the season.
River Islands' win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Charles Mapanao, who went 8 of 15 en route to 21 points and five rebounds. Idrees ElFarra was another key player, going 7 for 13 on his way to 15 points and three steals.
Millennium's loss dropped their record down to 1-17. As for River Islands, they now have a winning record of 10-9.
Millennium will look to defend their home court on Friday against Ben Holt College Prep Academy at 8:00 p.m. As for River Islands, they will venture away from home to face off against Aspire Langston Hughes Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. River Islands is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 57.6 points per game this season.
