Basketball Recap: Evan Strimel and Gary Tarbuk Secure Win for Geibel Catholic

Geibel Catholic won the last time they faced Mt. Pleasant and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Geibel Catholic Gators were the clear victor by an 87-65 margin over the Mt. Pleasant Vikings. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Gators.

Geibel Catholic was led to victory by Gary Tarbuk and Evan Strimel. Tarbuk went 8 of 16 on his way to 19 points in addition to seven assists and six steals, while Strimel went 7 for 14 en route to 20 points and eight assists. The contest was Strimel's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Seth Dolan, who went 5 for 12 en route to 14 points.

They weren't the only one working in the assists department: Geibel Catholic was working as a unit and finished the game with 25 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Geibel Catholic has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 9-6 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 78.8 points per game. As for Mt. Pleasant, they are on a ten-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-9.

Geibel Catholic will head out to take on Serra Catholic at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Geibel Catholic's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last four games. As for Mt. Pleasant, they will be taking part in a tournament against Geibel Catholic at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday.
