With a playoff win on the line, Orange Lutheran rose to the challenge on Friday. They won a game that couldn't have been any closer, slipping by the St. John Bosco Braves 20-19. The score was all tied up 7-7 at the break, but the Lancers were the better team in the second half.

Orange Lutheran's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Sean Morris Jr, who rushed for 121 yards. Morris Jr has become a key player for the Lancers: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least 80 rushing yards, but 3-5 otherwise.

Orange Lutheran didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited St. John Bosco to a completion percentage of just 45.5%. That dominant aerial defense primarily came from five players: King Rich Johnson, Chauncey Washington II, Cory Panapa, Marcus Fakatou, and Anhor The Great Johnson, who each logged one passes deflected. Orange Lutheran wasn't nearly as limited: they posted one of 63.6%.

Despite the defeat, St. John Bosco had strong showings from Maliq Allen, who rushed for 95 yards on only 11 carries, and Corey Hinton, who rushed for 53 yards and one touchdown.

Orange Lutheran's record is now 5-6. As for St. John Bosco, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 9-2.

Coming up, Orange Lutheran will take on Santa Margarita at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Eagles will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something the Lancers surely won't give up without a fight. St. John Bosco does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
