Softball Recap: Dixie Flyers vs. Crimson Cliffs Mustangs

Dixie was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They wound up on the wrong side of a rough 8-1 walloping at the hands of the Crimson Cliffs Mustangs. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Dixie of the 9-2 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2023.

Dixie saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Eliza Kesterson, who went 2-for-2 with a stolen base and an RBI.

On Crimson Cliffs' side, Gracee Stucki spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered one run (which was unearned) on five hits and racked up eight Ks. Stucki has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive pitching appearances.

At the plate, Paisley Lantz was excellent, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances. Sophie Staheli was another key contributor, scoring a run and stealing three bases.

Dixie's defeat dropped their record down to 6-14. As for Crimson Cliffs, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 11-10.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Dixie will stay at home for another game and welcome Page at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Page is strutting in with some hitting muscle, as they've averaged 11.1 runs per game this season. As for Crimson Cliffs, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Dixie at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
