Basketball Game Preview: Norfolk Panthers vs. Fremont Tigers

A feisty cat fight will be fought when the Norfolk Panthers take on the Fremont Tigers at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday... Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Last Thursday, Norfolk came up short against Columbus and fell 57-45. The Panthers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Norfolk's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Drew Streich, who went 7 of 17 en route to 17 points and seven rebounds, and Damien Jones, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 11 boards. Those 17 points gave Streich a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Parker Rabbass, who posted eight points and six rebounds.

Even though they lost, Norfolk smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Fremont opened the new year with a less-than-successful 63-56 loss to Benson.

Fremont has traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-5 record this season. As for Norfolk, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-6.

Norfolk ended up a good deal behind Fremont in their previous matchup back in December of 2023, losing 53-38. Thankfully for Norfolk, Colin Ridder (who went 6 of 9 on his way to 16 points along with five assists and four steals) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
