Football Game Preview: Paramount Pirates vs. Dominguez Dons + How To Watch

Paramount is preparing for their first league matchup of the season on Friday. They will face off against the Dominguez Dons at 7:00 p.m.

Things were looking good for Paramount after they put the first points on the board last Friday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They took a 21-14 hit to the loss column at the hands of Norwalk. The matchup was a 7-7 toss-up at halftime, but the Pirates couldn't quite close it out.

Meanwhile, Dominguez strolled into their game on Friday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They came out on top against Gardena by a score of 28-21.

Dominguez's win came from a few key players Paramount will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Donnie Johnson III, who rushed for 35 yards and one touchdown, and also threw for 151 yards and one TD while completing 81.8% of his passes. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in passer rating (152.7). Another player making a difference was Darrell Frazier, who rushed for 114 yards and one score on only 13 carries.

Dominguez was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 212 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 156 rushing yards in four consecutive contests.

This is the second loss in a row for Paramount and nudges their season record down to 3-2. As for Dominguez, their record now sits at 5-0.

Paramount came up short against Dominguez in their previous meeting back in October of 2022, falling 27-21. Thankfully for the Pirates, Grant Beck (who rushed for 202 yards and three TDs) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
