Softball Game Preview: Wartburg Central Bulldogs vs. Oneida Indians

Wartburg Central has gone 9-1 against Oneida recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. Wartburg Central will host Oneida at 5:30 p.m. Oneida took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Wartburg Central, who comes in off a win.

Wartburg Central lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Oliver Springs, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Tuesday's contest. Wartburg Central put the hurt on Oliver Springs with a sharp 13-1 victory on Tuesday. The win was some much needed relief for the Bulldogs as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak.

Wartburg Central let Maeve Hudson and Katelyn Rayfield run wild. Hudson went 1-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI, while Rayfield scored a run while going 3-for-4. That's the most hits Rayfield has posted since back in May of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Taylor Collins, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.

Meanwhile, Oneida was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They lost 11-2 to Cumberland County.

Lillian Hailey was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run while going 2-for-3. She also put up an RBI, which was her first of the season.

Oneida's loss dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Wartburg Central, their victory bumped their record up to 3-4.

Oneida's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Wartburg Central has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .433. It's a different story for Oneida, though, as they've only averaged .337. Will they be able to contain Wartburg Central's hitters?
