Softball Preview: Paint Valley Bearcats vs. Southeastern Panthers
The Paint Valley Bearcats will take on the Southeastern Panthers at 5:15 p.m. on Wednesday.
Monday just wasn't the day for Paint Valley's offense. They came up short against Piketon on Monday, falling 10-0. The Bearcats haven't had much luck with the Redstreaks recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.
Paint Valley saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sophia Stauffer, who went 1-for-3 with one double.
Meanwhile, Southeastern had to endure a four-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-4 win over Clay on Tuesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory Southeastern has posted since April 1st.
Kylie Williams spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and three unearned) runs on six hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Jade Turner was excellent, going 3-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.
Paint Valley's loss dropped their record down to 5-8. As for Southeastern, their win bumped their record up to 5-10.
Paint Valley couldn't quite get it done against Southeastern in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 as they fell 14-10. Can the Bearcats avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
