Softball Recap: Washington Township Snaps Four-Game Streak of Losses at Home

Washington Township had lost four games at home, but after bumping their record up to 7-9 on Monday that streak is in the rearview. Everything went their way against the North Newton Spartans as they made off with a 20-10 win. The result was nothing new for the Senators, who have now won five contests by ten runs or more so far this season.

As for North Newton, their defeat ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 13-3-1. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for they, who until this match were averaging 2.82 runs allowed.

For North Newton's part, Rylynn Klemz made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That home run marked the first that Klemz has launched this season. The team also got some help courtesy of June Busboom, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Washington Township will face off against Westville at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for North Newton, they will welcome Tri-County at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Cavaliers will roll in looking for their 16th straight victory, something the Spartans surely won't give up without a fight.
