Basketball Game Preview: Alexandria City Titans vs. West Springfield Spartans

Alexandria City has gone 8-2 against West Springfield recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Alexandria City Titans will be playing in front of their home fans against the West Springfield Spartans at 7:15 p.m. Alexandria City is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 52.1 points per game this season.

Last Saturday, Alexandria City beat Chantilly 65-58. The win was all the more spectacular given the Titans' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 286th, while the Chargers are ranked 124th).

Among those leading the charge was Maxwell Carew Jr, who went 6 of 8 en route to 20 points. Those 20 points gave him a new career-high. Jayden Walker was another key player, putting up 13 points.

Meanwhile, West Springfield hadn't done well against Fairfax recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. West Springfield pulled ahead with a 52-51 photo finish over Fairfax. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Spartans as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

West Springfield's win bumped their record up to 4-9. As for Alexandria City, their victory ended a six-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-11.
