Recap: Tanque Verde Hawks vs. Rio Rico Hawks
The Tanque Verde Hawks lost against the Rio Rico Hawks back in November of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. Tanque Verde took a serious blow against Rio Rico, falling 55-28.
Despite the defeat, Tanque Verde saw an underclassman step up: Layla O'Rourke-Slone scored 15 points along with 5 rebounds and 3 steals. O'Rourke-Slone scored a full 53.6% of Tanque Verde's points, the second time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Tanque Verde's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Rio Rico, their victory bumped their record up to 1-0.
Tanque Verde will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Empire at 7:00 p.m. on December 1st. As for Rio Rico, they will take on American Leadership Academy - Gilbert North at 7:20 p.m. on Friday.
