Luling is on a three-game streak of home wins, while Poth is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Eagles will host the Pirates at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Luling gave up the first runs on Friday, but they didn't let that get them down. They walked away with a 9-6 victory over Nixon-Smiley.
Nedeyin Magallanez spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and four unearned) runs on two hits and racked up 16 Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in nine consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Braelyn Hall was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three runs, two doubles, and one RBI. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Zoey Williams, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
Meanwhile, Poth made easy work of Stockdale on Friday and carried off a 12-2 win. The result was nothing new for the Pirates, who have now won 18 games by six runs or more so far this season.
Poth also let their pitcher toss all six innings played and she was also dialed-in: Reese Urbanczyk gave up two runs (both of which were unearned) on two hits and racked up nine Ks.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Ava Kroll, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run, two stolen bases, and three RBI. Maddie Reynolds was another key player, going 1-for-3 with three runs and one stolen base.
Poth was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .433. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .321 or higher in eight consecutive contests.
The victory got Luling back to even at 12-12. As for Poth, their win bumped their record up to 23-6.
