Softball Recap: Hamilton County Foxes vs. Edwards County Lions

Hamilton County suffered their closest loss since April 12th on Thursday. They fell just short of the Edwards County Lions by a score of 5-3. The Foxes were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Lions earlier this season, when they won 6-1.

Colebie Miller was huge no matter where she played even without the win. She pitched seven innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. Miller was even better at the plate, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one double.

In other batting news, Saylor Brown made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.

Hamilton County's defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 5-1 and their overall record down to 10-11. As for Edwards County, they pushed their record up to 13-2 with the win, which was their seventh straight on the road.

Coming up, Hamilton County will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Flora at 4:30 p.m. As for Edwards County, they will venture away from home to face off against Farina South Central at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Cougars will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something the Lions surely won't give up without a fight.
