Softball Game Preview: Lone Peak Knights vs. Lehi Pioneers

Lone Peak hasn't had much luck against Lehi recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. After both having extra time off, the two teams will shake off the cobwebs and hit the field against one another at 3:30 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Lone Peak is headed into Tuesday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fifth straight game last Wednesday. They came up short against Cyprus, falling 14-4. That's two games in a row now that the Knights have lost by exactly ten runs.

Lone Peak saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Clara Gourley, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That triple marked the first that Gourley hit this season.

Meanwhile, Lehi faced Riverton in a battle between two of the state's top teams last Friday. The Pioneers lost 15-2 to the Silverwolves. The Pioneers' defeat signaled the end of their six-game winning streak.

Lehi's loss dropped their record down to 10-2. As for Lone Peak, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-7.

Lone Peak suffered a grim 16-8 defeat to Lehi in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Can the Knights avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
