Basketball Preview: Duluth Wildcats vs. Discovery Titans
Duluth and the Titans are an even 5-5 against one another since December of 2020, but not for long. The Duluth Wildcats will be playing in front of their home fans against the Discovery Titans at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Duluth has not had quite the year their fans were hoping for to this point, but back-to-back wins may be a sign of good things to come. They enjoyed a cozy 58-39 victory over Berkmar on Thursday. That 19 point margin sets a new team best for Duluth this season.
Duluth found their leader in underclassman Saniya Johnson, who scored 22 points along with three steals and two blocks. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Johnson has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaylie Zirger, who scored 14 points.
Meanwhile, Discovery didn't have too much breathing room in their match against the Mustangs on Friday, but they still walked away with a 46-42 victory.
Duluth's victory bumped their record up to 4-16. As for Discovery, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a massive bump to their 10-13 record this season.
Duluth came up short against the Titans when the teams last played back in January, falling 56-45. Will Duluth have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more basketball content.
