Baseball Recap: Bland's Luck Changes for the Better on Friday

Bland not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since April 12, 2024. They put the hurt on the Avery Bulldogs with a sharp 13-0 win. The victory was some much needed relief for the Tigers as it spelled an end to their nine-game losing streak dating back to last season.

Max Rodriguez made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, he gave up only zero earned runs, the fewest he's had since back in April of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing Five bases. while going 1-for-2. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in stolen bases.

In other batting news, Bland let Hunter Thomas and Dakota Blankenship run wild. Thomas scored two runs and stole Seven bases. while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances, while Blankenship scored three runs and stole Seven bases. while going 1-for-2. Those seven stolen bases gave Blankenship a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jaylen Bonds, who scored a run and stole Five bases. while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

Bland's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-5. As for Avery, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 0-5-1.

Coming up, Bland will take on Cooper at 12:00 p.m. on Monday. Bland will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each match than the last. As for Avery, they have already played their next contest, a 10-1 defeat against Neches on the 7th.
