Schuylkill Valley and Berks Catholic are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2021, but likely not for long. The Panthers will be playing at home against the Blue Jays at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The timing is sure in Schuylkill Valley's favor as the team sits on three straight wins at home while Berks Catholic has been banged up by three consecutive losses on the road.
Schuylkill Valley came into this matchup off a tough six-run defeat on Tuesday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of Hamburg by a score of 4-2 on Wednesday.
Schuylkill Valley saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Tristan Goda, who went 2-for-4 with one RBI.
Meanwhile, Berks Catholic made easy work of Wyomissing on Wednesday and carried off a 10-2 win. Considering the Blue Jays have won three games by more than seven runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Henry Pflomm was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 6.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. He has become a key player for Berks Catholic: the team is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 1-3 otherwise. Pflomm was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Aiden Curley, who went 2-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI. He is on a roll when it comes to triples, as he's now hit at least one in each of the last three games he's played. Dominic Valent was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.
Berks Catholic always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .531. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Berks Catholic now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Schuylkill Valley, they now have a losing record of 4-5.
Schuylkill Valley might still be hurting after the 13-6 loss they got from Berks Catholic in their previous meeting back in May of 2025. Can the Panthers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
