Basketball Game Preview: Snook Christian Academy Eagles vs. Escambia Academy Cougars

The Snook Christian Academy Eagles will face off against the Escambia Academy Cougars at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams are coming into the match red-hot, with Snook Christian Academy sitting on five straight wins and Escambia Academy on nine.

Last Thursday, Snook Christian Academy strolled past Central Christian with points to spare, taking the game 52-33. Given the Eagles' advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 237th, while the Saints are ranked 573rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Micah Brunson was a one-man wrecking crew for Snook Christian Academy as he dropped a double-double on 15 points and 11 boards. With that strong performance, Brunson is now averaging an impressive 2.1 steals per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Josh Gabel, who went 6 of 15 on his way to 14 points.

Snook Christian Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in four consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Escambia Academy faced off against Evangel Christian Academy on Saturday. Escambia Academy came out on top in a nail-biter against Evangel Christian Academy, sneaking past 51-48.

Snook Christian Academy has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.8 points per game. As for Escambia Academy, they pushed their record up to 15-2 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road.

Snook Christian Academy took a serious blow against Escambia Academy when the teams last played back in January of 2024, falling 65-34. Can Snook Christian Academy avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
