Football Game Preview: Belleville East Lancers vs. Capital City Cavaliers

The Belleville East Lancers will face off against the Capital City Cavaliers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Belleville East and Belleville West faced off in a cross-town battle on Friday. The Lancers came out on top against the Maroons by a score of 27-14. The Lancers haven't had any issues with the Maroons recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive victory against them.

Kayden Wood had another great game (as he tends to do), throwing for 246 yards and two touchdowns, while also rushing for 46 yards and a pair of TDs. What's more, he racked up 123.4 passer rating, the most he's had since back in August. Belleville East's leading receiver CJ Willis was Wood's top target yet again, picking up 151 receiving yards and one score.

On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Belleville East's defense and their six sacks. It was truly a group effort as Ja'Cory Brown, Jonathan Rulo, and Kenny McCline picked up two apiece. McCline also made five total tackles, which is notable because Belleville East is undefeated when he posts at least four total tackles, but 1-2 otherwise.

Meanwhile, Capital City got the win against Camdenton on Friday by a conclusive 49-28. The result was nothing new for the Cavaliers, who have now won three games by 21 points or more so far this season.

Belleville East's win bumped their record up to 6-2. As for Capital City, their victory bumped their record up to 5-3.
