Softball Game Preview: Clovis East Timberwolves vs. Clovis Cougars

The Clovis East Timberwolves will head out on the road to take on the Clovis Cougars at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Clovis East's pitching crew has only allowed 3.3 runs per game this season, so Clovis' hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Clovis East barely beat Clovis West the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Timberwolves were the clear victors by a 12-2 margin over the Golden Eagles on Friday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win the Timberwolves have posted against the Golden Eagles since April 20, 2022.

Chloe Solis looked comfortable as she pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Natalie Lewis, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one run and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Brianna McCoy, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Clovis was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 16th straight defeat. They came up short against Clovis North, falling 8-0.

Clovis' loss dropped their record down to 3-21. As for Clovis East, with the victory, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 14-7-1.

Clovis East was able to grind out a solid win over Clovis in their previous meeting back in April, winning 4-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Timberwolves since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
