Volleyball Game Preview: Albuquerque Academy Chargers vs. St. Pius X Sartans

The Albuquerque Academy Chargers will head out to take on the St. Pius X Sartans at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Albuquerque Academy is coming into the match on a four-game losing streak.

Albuquerque Academy is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of New Mexico's top teams: Volcano Vista, who was ranked 23rd at the time (Albuquerque Academy was ranked sixth). The Chargers came up short against the Hawks on Thursday, falling 3-0.

While Albuquerque Academy was not able to make it on the board, they still kept things close, especially in the third set. The final score came out to 25-19, 25-19, 26-24.

Meanwhile, St. Pius X got the win against St. Michael's on Monday by a conclusive 3-0. The win continues a trend for the Sartans in their matchups with the Horsemen: they've now won four in a row.

The 3-0 score doesn't show just how dominant St. Pius X was: they took every set by at least ten points. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-13, 25-14, 25-15.

Albuquerque Academy's loss dropped their record down to 7-4. As for St. Pius X, their victory bumped their record up to 5-2.

Albuquerque Academy couldn't quite get it done against St. Pius X in their previous matchup back in October of 2024 as they fell 3-1. Can the Chargers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
