Volleyball Recap: Texas Handles Tyler

It was a proper cat-fight when Texas challenged Tyler on Saturday. The Tigers walked away with a 2-0 win over the Lions.

Texas easily took the first set, but they let things get interesting in the other. The match finished with set scores of 25-15, 25-19.

Phoenix Jones paced Texas' offense, picking up eight kills. Jones was helped by Sunni Hopkins and Cruz Hopkins, who contributed seven assists each. Cruz was also solid from the service line: she led the team with five aces.

Texas' victory brought them up to 5-3. As for Tyler, they have been struggling for a while as they've lost four of their last five contests. That's taken a bite out of their 3-7 record this season.

Texas has already played their next matchup, a 3-1 defeat against North Lamar on the 18th. As for Tyler, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 3-0 loss against Tyler Legacy on the 18th.
