Basketball Recap: Sotomayor Picks Up Seventh Consecutive Victory

Sotomayor entered their tilt with Stevens on Wednesday with six consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with seven. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Stevens Falcons 69-12. The WILDCATS have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 13 contests by 22 points or more this season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Sotomayor to victory, but perhaps none more so than Corina Barrera, who went 7 of 9 on her way to 14 points in addition to six steals and five boards. Barrera has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times she's played. Jah'Dae Bussey was another key player, going 7 for 17 en route to 16 points along with five rebounds and five steals.

Sotomayor smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 21 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in 16 consecutive games.

Sotomayor is on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 22-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.5 points per game. As for Stevens, their loss was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-26.

Sotomayor has already played their next contest, a 62-31 win against Taft on the 24th. As for Stevens, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 39-19 defeat against Harlan on the 24th.
