Basketball Game Preview: Stone Mountain Pirates vs. Stephenson Jaguars

Stone Mountain is 0-4 against Stephenson since December of 2022 but things could change on Friday. The Stone Mountain Pirates will look to defend their home court against the Stephenson Jaguars at 7:30 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 95-35, which was the final score in Stone Mountain's tilt against Cedar Grove on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, the Pirates can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 404th, while the Saints are ranked 14th).

Meanwhile, Stephenson was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Tuesday as they fell 61-56 to North Clayton.

Stephenson's defeat was their fifth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 3-8. As for Stone Mountain, their loss dropped their record down to an identical 3-8.

Stone Mountain came up short against Stephenson in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, falling 70-65. Can Stone Mountain avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
