Basketball Recap: Edmond Memorial Picks Up 19th Consecutive Win

With a playoff win on the line, Edmond Memorial rose to the challenge on Saturday. They put the hurt on the Putnam City Pirates with a sharp 62-41 win. The Bulldogs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 15 games by 20 points or more this season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Edmond Memorial to victory, but perhaps none more so than Janiyah Williams, who dropped a double-double with 23 points and 12 rebounds. The contest was Williams' 20th in a row with at least 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Avery Hjelmstad, who went 5-for-11 en route to 17 points along with three steals and three blocks.

The victory (which was Edmond Memorial's 19th in a row) raised their record to 23-3. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.6 points over those games. As for Putnam City, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-13 record this season.

Edmond Memorial will face off against Norman at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Norman's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last seven games. Putnam City does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
