Lawrence Central hasn't had much luck against Greenfield-Central recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Bears will square off against the Cougars at 6:30 p.m. Lawrence Central will be strutting in after a victory while Greenfield-Central will be coming in after a defeat.
Lawrence Central lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Warren Central, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Wednesday's matchup. The Bears blew past the Warriors 13-3 on Wednesday. Considering the Bears have won seven games by more than nine runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Eliana Luter made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI.

In other batting news, Isis Duszynski and Tru Cunningham did most of the damage at the plate: Duszynski went 1-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one double, while Cunningham went 3-for-4 with four RBI and one run. Those three hits gave Cunningham a new career-high. Rebecca Radcliffe also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Lawrence Central hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They are 6-1 when they post two or more strikeouts.
Meanwhile, Greenfield-Central came up short against Pendleton Heights on Tuesday and fell 8-4.
Tovaria Smith made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Kristen Wineinger, who went 1-for-4 with one home run.
Lawrence Central has been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.3 runs over those games. As for Greenfield-Central, their loss dropped their record down to 9-9.
Greenfield-Central's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Thursday. Lawrence Central has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.1 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Greenfield-Central, though, as they've been averaging an even more impressive 3.9 strikeouts. Will Lawrence Central keep running through batters, or will the Cougars buck the trend?
Lawrence Central suffered a grim 10-0 defeat to Greenfield-Central in their previous matchup back in May of 2025. Can the Bears avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
