Football Game Preview: Clairton Bears vs. Monessen Greyhounds + Official Tickets

The Clairton Bears will welcome the Monessen Greyhounds at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Clairton will be looking to extend their current eight-game winning streak.

Monessen's offense is going to have their work cut out for them on Friday: Clairton hadn't allowed a single point the last eight times they've hit the field. The Bears blew past Brentwood, posting a 53-0 win. Considering the Bears have won eight matchups by more than 42 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Jeff Thompson continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, throwing for 164 yards and four touchdowns while completing 90% of his passes. What's more, he racked up 168.8 passer rating, the most he's had since back in August. Deon Lovelace-Pompey handled things on the ground, rushing for 83 yards and a rushing touchdown.

Meanwhile, Monessen hadn't done well against Cornell recently (they were 0-4 in their previous four matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Greyhounds narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Raiders 30-28.

Clairton's record now sits at 8-1. As for Monessen, their record is now 6-4.

Everything came up roses for Clairton against Monessen in their previous matchup back in September of 2017, as the team secured a 52-13 win. Will the Bears repeat their success, or do the Greyhounds have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
